About our client
Our client, a retired professional based in the South East, had been with us for nearly three years via an Aviva Smart Home policy. While her contents and valuables were insured with us, she had buildings cover (£800,000) with Howden.
The challenge
Our client was going on a round-the-world cruise for six months. While she was away, she wanted to ensure her contents at home were adequately protected. Additionally, the client had a valuable ring she would be taking with her worth £23,000, which also needed covering.
Because the cruise was imminent, we had just three days to arrange the right protection for our client. That meant we had to act fast.
The solution
Her client advisor Grace, sought advice from her team on how best to approach the situation. Because there was a lot that needed to be done in a short amount of time, she sought to make the job easier by broadening the number of insurers they could approach. She did this by bringing buildings cover onto the policy – which had previously been with Howden – which gave the client many more cover opportunities at no greater cost.
The result
While securing the right cover for the client, Grace approached the client’s current insurer Aviva. After some discussions, Aviva said they would be happy to continue to provide the full scope of the cover, provided the client or clients representative stayed at the property at least three nights every month.
The client was very happy with Grace’s proposed solution, as it not only addressed her immediate problem but streamlined her overall cover.
What’s more, as a result of Grace’s attentiveness and attention to detail, the client moved her buildings cover from Howden to Stanhope Cooper. This was with an additional premium of £545 that allowed the flexibility of cover while on her cruise and access to Grace as the dedicated account handler.
