Since it began in 2017, Ecclesiastical Insurance’s charitable giving programme Closer to You has distributed £625,000 to brokers. The money helps to support local causes close to brokers’ hearts, making a real difference in their local communities.

This summer, Stanhope was awarded £2,500 to donate towards a charity of their choice. Stanhope split this generous donation into five £500 donations across five months. Each month, the individual charity is selected by the hard-working employee who won ‘Legend of the Month’.

Two of the £500 prizes have now been donated to the chosen charities.

In August, Legend of the Month Satbir Kaur awarded the first £500 donation to SKSN. SKSN, or Sucheta Kriplani Shiksha Niketan, is a senior secondary, co-educational residential school. Established in 1991, the schoolhouses over 550 physically challenged children free of charge.

SKSN is largely funded by donations. The money donated went towards food for the children and funding larger-scale projects, including building separate dormitories for the young boys who sleep on the classroom floors.

In September, Legend of the Month Danniella Parslow selected Tommy’s, the leading pregnancy and baby charity. Tommy’s aim is to stop baby loss and make the pregnancy journey and birthing process safe for everyone. Tommy’s also offers support for those who have lost babies.

Donations allow Tommy’s to research baby loss and pregnancy complications and fund Tommy’s Pregnancy Line, their free midwife-led service where parents-to-be and healthcare professionals can get expert advice.

Our October Legend of the Month, Andrew Rogers, selected The Rowans Hospice, a charity who provide palliative and end of life care for those living with a life-limiting illness. Whilst care is provided free of charge, 90% of their income is generated by legacies, donations, fundraising and their retail shops.

Ecclesiastical are really pleased to be able to support Stanhope Cooper in their Legend of the Month initiative, with donations to 2 fantastic charities already made, I’m looking forward to seeing who the next 3 donation are supporting

Our passion and aim at Stanhope is to be the UK’s most trusted insurance broker.

Matthew Ashton, Director.

We believe why you do something is as important as what you do. There are many businesses in the UK which, despite being financially rich, are values-poor; we want to buck this trend in the financial services sector.

We believe it’s important to have a destination in mind but it’s as much about the journey for us, as it is reaching the destination. At Stanhope we’re passionate about the journey and the destination. As a result, we have created a threefold value-statement which not only governs what we do, but also why we do it.

I started working in the insurance industry in 2004. Four years later, I left to focus on theological studies, working as a youth worker and then as a ministry director in Seattle, USA. When returning to the UK, I had an opportunity to work for the late Andrew Marchington. I joined his firm as a sales advisor when it had around ten staff members. Within three years, I was Head of Ops with a staff team of over 30 people. After a chance encounter in 2019 with Rachel Living and Will Cooper, I co-started Stanhope to build a high-value home, luxury watch, and jewellery broker synonymous with trust. I love being with Donna, my wife, and four kids when not working, cramming in the odd row, or run when I can. I am fortunate to love what I do and consider it a blessing to grow the Stanhope brand.
